Atletico Madrid president insisted on Tuesday he would not swap Colombian superstar Radamel Falcao for any other soccer player in the world, even the great Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Falcao has been in scintillating form for club and country so far this season and currently tops the Spanish La Liga scoring charts with seven goals, one ahead of both Barcelona’s Messi and Real Madrid’s Ronaldo.
, who sanctioned the move for the 26-year-old striker from Porto in 2011, said, “Neither I nor anyone at Atletico would change Falcao for Messi or Cristiano (Ronaldo).”
There has been continued speculation since the start of the season surrounding Falcao’s future at the Spanish club, with English Premier League giants and UEFA Champions League holders Chelsea among those linked with a big-money move for the striker.
While Cerezo acknowledges that other clubs are interested in Falcao, he is keen to point out that it is in the Spanish capital where he plays his soccer.
“Falcao is the best and many clubs want him, but he plays at Atletico and we are delighted with him,” he added.
