Colombia’s prosecutor general on Monday announced she will soon file more charges against allegedly corrupt government officials and beneficiaries of fraudulently granted agricultural subsidies.
Nevertheless, prosecutor general Viviane Morales urged for patience as it has been no more than four months that the prosecutor General’s Office assigned a prosecutor to the case.
Among those who are investigated, but have not been charged are two former Agriculture Ministers, Andres Felipe Arias and his successor Andres Fernandez Acosta.
Four government officials working under these ministers were sent to jail a week ago to await their trial behind bars.
