Prosecution promises benefits for information on wiretaps

Colombia’s Prosecutor General promises to benefit DAS
officials who hand over evidence of the intelligence agency’s alleged
illegal wiretapping of government opponents.

Evidence of the wiretaps was leaked to radio station LA FM Wednesday morning, which for Prosecutor General Mario Iguaran is evidence that material that is incriminating for the intelligence service was kept from Prosecution investigators.

Iguaran called on DAS officials that had destroyed or hid evidence to come forward. These officials would be granted benefits when it come to the criminal prosecution of suspects, he told newspaper El Espectador Wednesday.

Earlier Wednesday, the Presidency offered a reward for information that would lead to those that had called for the wiretaps.
