The General Prosecutor, Edgardo Maya Villazón, asked the government to suspend the extradition to the United States to make sure ‘Macaco’ stays within the jurisdiction. Vistims of the paramilitary want ‘Macaco’ to go to trial for the massacres and other crimes against humanity that were committed under his responsibility. In the US ‘Macaco’ only is charged with the production and trafficking of cocaine.The Prosecutor added that he will cooperate with whatever decision the government takes about the extradition.
