Projections on Colombia’s economic growth fall

Projections for economic growth in Colombia have been downgraded from 4.7% to 4.3% for the remainder of 2012 and 2013, according to El Espectador.

A report from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated that after a full investigation the country’s growth will be 0.4% less than initially expected.

The report also states how Latin America on a whole will rise by 3.2% this year and 3.9% next year – better than all other regions in the world.

The reason being that it is an area which is somewhat shielded from the economic crisis in other countries as “many central banks have successfully redirected their policies, focusing more on inflation, and therefore have used the exchange rates in their favor to absorb impacts.”
