Pro gay rights notary assassinated

A Bogotá notary, who had legally formalized the unions of nearly
hundred gay couples, was assassinated in the Colombian capital Friday
night.

Norberto Salamanca was shot four times by an unknown man who approached him, while the notary was waiting in his car for us sons.

Salamanca was taken to a nearby hospital where he died of his wounds.

Police offered a 50 million reward for those who could lead authorities to the murderer.

Salamanca became famous after starting to formalize and legalize the unions of gay couples, after Colombia’s Constitutional Court ruled they were legal and same sex partners had the same rights to pensions as married couples.
