Prince Charles may visit Colombia

At a dinner held in London on Wednesday by Colombia’s Environmental Minister, the heir to the British throne, Prince Charles, expressed interest in visiting Colombia.

The Minister Carlos Costa claimed that “we had the opportunity to invite him and he said he would consider … Prince Charles was surprisingly well informed on the situation in Colombia, he was surprised by the level of forest cover and he expressed a message of gratitude for Colombia’s decision to conserve it’s Amazon and pacific jungles.”

During the dinner Prince Charles advised Latin American nations to reach a unified position on climate change to present at the environmental summit in Copenhagen in December in order to secure the cooperation of developed countries in forest protection programs, reported news station Caracol Thursday.

The monarch also emphasized the declaration of the Apaporis Yaigoje National Park and it’s work is protecting some 100 million hectares of Colombian Amazonian rainforest.

According to Costa, Prince Charles also seemed particularly interested in the plight of the indidenous communities of Colombia and the need offer financial support to assist the conservation work that they undertake in the forests.
