Preview: Liga Postobon week 3

Week three in the Colombian Liga Postobon includes several top clashes with Independiente Medellin hosting America de Cali while Junior receive Deportes Tolima.

Action starts on Saturday with another high profile encounter involving Deportivo Cali and Atletico Nacional, the latter finally playing their first match of the season.

Atletico Nacional beat Cali the last two times they met, and will aim to do so again this time around. But having drawn their first two games of the season, Cali will clearly have different plans as they desperately need the points.

In Saturday’s other game, joint-leaders Santa Fe hope to maintain their perfect record in a home match with Cortulua.

On Sunday, Independiente Medellin look to get their first poitns of the season in a home match with America de Cali, after having lost their only previous game last week. America themselves aren’t much better off with two consecutive draws.

At the same time, defending champions Junior of Barranquilla receive Deportes Tolima, always a dark horse for the Colombian title. Tolima tend to play well in the northern city, having won three of the last four games at Junior.

Later in the afternoon, the other joint leaders Cucuta Deportivo play a home match against La Equidad. Cucuta beat Envigado and Real Cartagena in the previous games and a third win in a row would certainly put them in pole position for weeks to come.

In other games, Atletico Huila host Real Cartagena, Envigado visit Boyaca Chico and Deportes Quindio receive Millonarios.
