Colombian Breidis Prescott is the new WBO intercontinental lightweight
champion. The Barranquilla born boxer beat reigning champion Amir Khan
to take the title.
Both boxers began the match at the M.E.N. Arena of Manchester,
England, with an undefeated professional record. This would surely end
for one of the two rivals.
Prescott began attacking right away and had his opponent floored
after just thirty seconds. Khan did manage to get up, but only to find
himself back on the ground a few seconds later. Khan was counted out
after 54 seconds, which made the knockout official.
The 25-year-old Prescott has a habit of deciding matches by knock
out, preferably in one of the first few rounds. In the days ahead of
the match, Prescott promised to expose Khan as ‘pampered baby’.
