Colombia to introduce postal codes

While postal services worldwide are losing ground,  Colombia’s ITC Ministry on Wednesday announced the country will begin using postal codes to make its postal system more efficient.

To make postal codes a reality, the national postal aervice and the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications developed a system that could reach all corners of the country.

The President of the postal services, Adriana Lopez Barragan, said in a press release that the postal code project stretches beyond the single act of giving postal codes to the whole country.

“We are aware of the need to monitor the implementation, so that the system is successful and beneficial for the entire population,” said Lopez.

Additionally, the postal code should make life somewhat easier of postmen who sometimes have to find homes without official addresses.
