Despite receiving heavy criticism for failing to accurately predict the outcome of Colombia’s first round presidential elections, the latest voter poll held by newscaster CM&, indicates candidate Juan Manuel Santos will win the second round election with 61% of the intentional vote, while his opponent Antanas Mockus will receive 29.8% of the vote.
The poll, conducted by the National Consultancy Center for CM&, showed that 5.8% of the voters not had not yet decided who to vote for.
2,000 Colombians were surveyed in this, the first voter poll conducted since last Sunday’s first round presidential election in which Santos won with 46.57% of the vote, while Mockus faired much worse than polls had predicted, with 21.47%.
The CM& poll and others pollsters have lost great credibility after having been significantly wrong in their first round election predictions.
Santos and Mockus will face-off in a second round presidential election on June 20.
