Politician and family murdered in Nariño

Unknown assassins killed a former council member and four of his family in a town in south-west Colombia, authorities confirmed on Saturday.

The murders took place in the Pacific coastal town of El Charco. The victims were the town’s former council member David Enrique Creo, his brother and three cousins, navy admiral Hernando Wills told Caracol Radio.

According to the admiral, the murders appear to be a retaliation by a criminal group active in the region.

Navy personnel are at the scene to gather evidence of the murder, Wills said.
