Colombian police seize ton of marijuana

Colombian police have seized a ton of marijuana in the west of the country, reported local media Monday.

The haul, worth an estimated $226,000, was discovered inside a truck travelling between Palmira and Andalusia in the department of Cauca.

The driver and a 17-year-old associate were arrested and charged with the sale and trafficking of an illegal substance.

The load, which was bound for the city of Pereira, was hidden among food and fabric, according to Valle del Cauca police commander, Colonel Nelson Ramirez.
