Colombian police seize over $5.7M in counterfeit dollars

Colombian authorities have seized $5,740,200 fake U.S. dollars, reported local media Thursday.

Police found counterfeit $100 bills in Pereira, the capital of the central western Risaralda department, where they arrested a woman whose identity was not disclosed.

The fake currency was ready to go into circulation in various cities throughout the country.

Colombia is considered to be one of the principal countries that falsifies distinct currencies. Experts have said that they are manufactured in an excellent quality that would be difficult to discern as fake from a first glance.
