Police seize munitions cache in Colombia’s north

Police have arrested two people after seizing 10,000 rounds of rifle ammunition in Colombia’s north, reported W Radio Tuesday.

The raid took place in the northern department of Bolivar after police intelligence agents tracked the movements of a suspicious vehicle for several days.

The large quantity of munitions were apparently suitable for AK47 rifles and were likely bound for criminal gangs in the neighboring department of Cordoba, according to sources consulted by W Radio.

Authorities have yet to confirm if the munitions were part of a series of illegal products trafficked across the border from Venezuela.
