Police rescue Swiss hostage in north Colombia

Police in the northern Colombian department of La Guajira rescued a Swiss national who was kidnapped earlier this month.

The woman, who had previously been wrongly identified as a Swedish national by Colombian media, was kidnapped from the farmhouse where she has been living since December.

According to the Police, the man rescued the woman from Palomino, close to where she had been kidnapped.

One man, who authorities say is not linked to any of the country’s armed groups, was arrested.
