Police foil FARC plot to impersonate soldiers

by Kirsten Begg October 28, 2009

FARC document

A FARC plot to impersonate Colombian soldiers in order to carry out terrorist activities was foiled after police found a document belonging to deceased guerrilla Hermes Triana.

The document instructs FARC front Teofilo Forero to acquire army uniforms and accessories National Police Director Oscar Naranjo told El Espectador Wednesday.

Naranjo said the document outlines how the Teofilo Forero front planned to undertake a commando raid in one of Colombia’s big cities by dressing as members of the armed forces.

Police found the document after three members of the Teofilo Forero were arrested on Sunday.

Naranjo said that several other police had uncovered several other terrorist plans following Hermes Triana’s death.
