Police capture FARC finance head

Colombian security forces nabbed Ivan Dario Tobon, alias “Marrano Mono,” who handled financial dealings for the FARC’s 10th front.

Marrano Mono was captured on February 28 after an 18-month manhunt, police say. He was apprehended in Armenia, central Colombia, although the FARC’s 10th Front is active mostly in the eastern Arauca and Casanare departments. “He was heading south in order to receive instructions,” one security official told El Tiempo.

Tobon was reportedly the right-hand man of German Briceño, alias “Grannobles,” brother of the commander of FARC’s eastern block, Mono Jojoy.
