Police in Cartagena arrested an Italian citizen allegedly implicated in the death of a minor. They believe the suspected pedophile, who was admitted to a psychiatric clinic several days ago, may be feigning mental deficiency.
Colonel Carlos Mena Bravo, chief of the Cartagena Metropolitan Police, told El Universal that italian born Paolo Pravisani will remain under police surveillance in the clinic because of his involvement in charges of possession of child pornography, engaging in sexual acts with a minor and aiding prostitution, until a medical expert can determine the validity of his claims.
The director of forensic investigation in Bolívar, Edgardo Miranda, told the same newspaper that the results of the autopsy of the deceased 15 year old minor will be released Tuesday.
Autopsy results will determine if the cause of death was homicide. A preliminary assessment indicated the minor had died of a drug overdose in the early morning of February 23rd.
Police are working to establish the events leading up to the minor’s death. They arrested two women, Angélica Tovar Julio, 23 and Hilda Rosa Martínez Meza, 19, who will be charged with possession of child pornography, engaging in sexual acts with a minor and aiding prostitution.
Police discovered a quantity of white powder, several bottles of alcohol and over 40 pornographic photos, some depicting minors, in Pravisani’s apartment.
