Former policeman accused of wife’s murder turns himself in

An ex-police colonel accused of the murder of his wife turned himself in to the authorities Tuesday.

The authorities had ordered the arrest of former Tolima police commander Joaquin Aldana several days ago.

Following investigations, the prosecutor general concluded that Aldana’s wife had been tortured and then dismembered by her attacker. Her body parts were found in several rural areas of Ibague, CM& reported.

The Ibague prosecutor general ordered the arrest of Aldana after collecting testimony linking the former policeman to the murder.

Police had offered a reward of US$50,000 for information leading to Aldana’s arrest.
