Pet vulture attacks kid’s genitals

by Adriaan Alsema June 18, 2009

Colombia news - vulture

Vulture Chepe was kicked out of the Cucuta house where he was kept as
a pet for over a year after pecking the family’s 10-year-old son in
the genitals.

The bird attacked the child while the mother of the house was out buying diapers for the son, who suffers a serious form of down syndrom and can only move his arms. While the mother was out, ‘Chepe’ jumped on the naked child and started pecking him, the boy’s father told Cucuta newspaper La Opinion.

Because of the boy’s paralysis he wasn’t able to defend himself, resulting in pecking wounds in the genital area.

The pet was handed over to the local police department who has taken custody of the carnivore bird. According to the father, it was the first time that Chepe showed any hostility towards any of the people or pets living in the family home.
