Parcel bomb hits Colombian airport

A parcel bomb exploded Wednesday in  Airport, in the capital of the southern Colombian Meta department, RCN Radio reports.

Meta police commander Marco Tulio Avendaño Lara confirmed that the explosive package arrived on a plane from San Jose del Guaviare, Guaviare department and detonated in one of the warehouses of Vanguardia Airport.

The explosion caused considerable material damage but did not leave any casualties.

Airport employee Henry Daza said that he was in the room where the parcel exploded, which left him deaf for some minutes.

Vanguardia Airport was closed for several hours after the explosion.
