The production of Colombia’s favorite sweet stuff, panela, dropped in 2010.
According to newspaper La Vanguardia, the national Panela federation announced production went from 1.5 million tons in 2009 to 1.2 million last year.
The federation is worried about 2011, as heavy rains have seriously affected sugar cane cultivation in the country.
