Boca Juniors fans want Óscar Córdoba

by Jonathan Roorda January 4, 2009

It was up to fans of Argentinian giants Boca Juniors, Colombian
goalkeeper Óscar Córdoba would be standing between the posts at La
Bombonera stadium next season.

A poll conducted by Argentinian sportspaper Olé reveals that 28,6 percent of its readers would pick Córdoba over any other choice. Roberto Abbondanzieri, currently keeping for Spanish side Getafe, finishes second in the poll.

The 38-year-old, born in Cali, recently announced that it is his wish to end his career at Boca. He played for the Buenos Aires outfit before, from 1997 to 2001.

The goalie has represented a large amount of clubs during his career, which started no less than 21 years ago. After making his debut with Atlético Nacional, he tried his luck at Deportivo Cali (twice), Deportes Quindío, Millonarios (twice), Once Caldas, América de Cali, Boca Juniors, Perugia, Besiktas, and Antalyaspor.

In June 2008, the veteran left Cali to spend the second half of the year at Millonarios in Bogotá.
