One soldier and five guerrillas die in combat: Army

One soldier and five guerrillas died in combats in South of Colombia, the Army reported Friday.

According to the official statement, heavy fighting in rural areas of San Jose de Guaviare, Guaviare department, left two rebels and one soldier, Francisco Javier Rojas Barreto, dead. His colleague Juan Andres Hernandez Sierro was injured and taken to the Regional Military Hospital of San Juan de Guaviare.

Two rebels of the FARC’s column “Teofilo Forero Castro” were killed in San Vicente de Caguan, Caqueta department.

Another guerrillas of the FARC’s 17 squad died in combat near Barranquilla, Huila department.
