Policeman killed, another wounded in ‘FARC’ attack

A policeman is killed and another wounded in an alleged FARC attack in central Colombia.

According to authorities, around a hundred rebels armed with explosives and machine guns attacked a police station in the town of Puerto Concordia, Meta department, on Thursday night.

The military fought off the attack with land and air forces, and the area is now under control.

Following the attack, the rebels surrounded the corpse of the murdered officer, Jose Andres Gomez, with explosives. Technicians are trying to remove them so the body can be recovered and sent to the department of Casanare, where Gomez’s family lives.

The injured officer received four shots to the leg.
