One man died and one was injured in clashes between fans of Independiente Medellin, Once Caldas and Atletico Nacional in Manizales where Medellin was playing a Copa Libertadores match against Racing from Uruguay.

According to radio station Caracol, the victim was a 22-year old Medellin fan who was stabbed by a Caldas fan. Other media say Nacional fans killed the victim.

A second soccer fan was stabbed, but survived when fans clashed for the second time later that day.

The hooligans clashed near the Palogrande stadium in the capital of the Caldas department, where authorities beforehand were warned about plans for a clash between hooligans of Medellin, Nacional and Caldas.

The match proceeded despite the disturbances. Neither Medellin nor Racing were able to score and left Caldas with only one point.
