Olympic team to be honored in Colombia’s capital

Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos announced Wednesday the Colombian Olympic team will be greeted as “heroes and with red carpet” in the presidential palace as they return from the summer Olympics held in London, United Kingdom.

The president praised Colombia’s performance in the Olympics and said the government would organize a great homage this Wednesday after their arrival on Colombian soil.

“We will make a great homage, a great caravan from the 26 to the Palace. We will receive them the way they deserve, as heroes, with red carpet, because they wore the name of Colombia high, they broke all the records,” said the president.

“Sport is a fundamental part of the development of any society,” the president concluded.
