Several executives of the multinational oil company Ocensa are under investigation in connection with the kidnapping of a unionist and their alleged ties to paramilitaries, Noticias Uno reported Thursday.
Unionist Gilberto Edgar Torres Martinez was abducted in 2002, tortured and forced to flee the department of Casanare.
According to the prosecutor general, Torres was kidnapped because he was a leader of the union and organized several strikes to demand better wages.
Senior management and other employees of Ocensa, operating in Casanare, are currently under investigation for allegedly kidnapping Torres and handing him over to paramilitaries.
The executives are accused of aggravated kidnapping, torture and forced displacement.
