Obama staff confirms Shakira performance

U.S. President-elect Barack Obama’s inaugural committee Monday
confirmed Colombian pop singer Shakira will perform at the inaugural
gala on january 18.

Aside that of Shakira, the Sunday evening entertainment event will see performances of Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Bono, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Renee Fleming,
Josh Groban, Herbie Hancock, Heather Headley, John Legend, Jennifer
Nettles, John Mellencamp, Usher Raymond IV, Bruce Springsteen,
James Taylor, will.i.am, and Stevie Wonder.

The event, held at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., is free and open to the public and
will be broadcast from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST by HBO, which is giving
free access via cable and satellite TV.
