Colombian town lacks council after mass arrest of councilors

The central Colombian town of Landazuri has been left without a council after the arrest of at least nine of the 11 members of the legislative body.

According to several media reports, the politicians were arrested on Sunday on suspicion of approving various measures that financially benefited the mayor and other government officials.

Caracol Radio reported that police are seeking to arrest the remaining members of the council.

All arrested politicians have been arraigned.
