North Colombia bomb attack kills at least 1, injures 18

At least one person was killed and another 18 injured in a car bomb attack in the north of Colombia on Monday evening.

According to media reports, a truck charged with explosives exploded in front of the police station of Maicao, a town in the northern La Guajira department.

The explosion killed a civilian who was passing the police station on a motorcycle at the time of the explosion.

Among the injured are three minors and one policeman.

Four homes were destroyed and another 50 were damaged.

Maicao, close to the border with Venezuela, lies in a region with a high presence of left-wing guerrilla and right-wing neo-paramilitary groups.
