Nine killed in Santander bus accident

At least nine were killed and another six injured when
a passenger coach fell into a sheer valley on Sunday in the Santander
Department in east Colombia.

The accident took place on a highway in the mountainous
area of Santander when a coach with 15 passengers on board suddenly
went out of control and fell into a valley of over 100 meters deep,
local police said.

Rescuers quickly arrived at the spot and sent the victims to hospital, said the police.

Preliminary investigation showed that
technical breakdown and terrible road condition could be the main cause
of the accident. (Xinhua)
