New forest reserve in Montes de Oca

by Michael Kay September 23, 2008

Approximately 10 million hectares of forest in Montes de Oca, along with countless birds, mammals, bugs and flowers, have been designated a protected reserve thanks to the efforts of a group of students.

Students from the small Colombian town of Albania, participating in the Model United Nations, analyzed the area’s problem with potable water in 2007, leading to a proposal to defend and protect the local ecosystem, reported El Heraldo.
