New direct flight to connect San Andres islands to Florida

The airline Spirit will be launching a new, direct flight path between Fort Lauderdale, Florida and the Colombian islands of San Andres in June 2010.

The announcement was made Friday by Colombia’s vice minister for tourism, Oscar Rueda Garcia, who described the new initiative as an opportunity for the San Andres islands, situated in the Colombian Caribbean, to capture the U.S. tourist market.
