New Carlos Vives song reaches #1 Billboard spot

Colombian superstar Carlos Vives is enjoying a sensational rebirth after his new song “I was born again” reached number one in the international Billboard magazine charts.

The release of the aptly entitled song marks the start of Vives’ comeback after six years out of the industry, and is from his new album “Deep Heart,” which will be released in 2013.

“This is a historic comeback. To be number one in the Billboard chart in the same week of the release is an achievement which has only happened a few times. This is just the beginning,” said the Colombian singer’s new representative, Walter Kolm.

According to the TV program “The Network,” Vives’ new album will include 12 songs and collaborations with Jennifer Lopez and Michel Telo.

Vives will use his upcoming world tour, including dates in Latin America, Europe and the U.S., as a way to promote his new work.

The 51-year-old is rumored to have shed over 30 pounds as part as his new image, stemming from a diet request from his wife Claudia Helena Vasquez.
