935 thousand Colombians have suffered damage or were forced to leave
their home, 59 died, 18 are missing and 91 were injured in this year’s
second rainy season, Colombian authorities announced Friday.
Floods and landslides following heavy rains destroyed more than 2000 homes. 78 thousand were damaged.
According to the national National Direction of Attention and Prevention of Disasters, the rainy season has caused emergency situations in 365 municipalities, spread over 27 (of 32) departments.
The agency warns for continuous threats of landslides, because of the ongoing heavy rains in higher areas. the lower, coastal parts will have to be prepared for continuously high rivers.
