More multi-million dollar cash piles found in containers

by Neda Vanovac September 15, 2009

Colombia news - money

Colombian authorities found another container full of cash, and expect the haul to exceed the record US$11 million found last week.

Customs authorities along with the National Police found the U.S. dollars in the port city of Buenaventura.

The money was found in three different containers, from Houston (USA) and Manzanillo (Mexico).

Authorities expect the amount to exceed the US$11 million finds seized twice last week. They base their estimates on the fact that the bills are in $100 denominations, while the previous haul was in $20 bills.

According to newspaper El Espectador, the information was confirmed by the National Police Director General Oscar Naranjo.

The previous two containers full of money are thought to belong to Los Rastrojos gang leader Luis Enrique ‘Comba’ Calle. Calle is one of Colombia’s eight most wanted gang leaders.
