Colombia captures ‘FARC nurse’

Colombian authorities captured the alleged former personal nurse to the late FARC commander “Mono Jojoy” in the southwest department of Huila, said local media Tuesday.

According to the reports, Claudia Patricia Rodriguez Palacios, alias “Yamile,” also known as “La Flaca”, spent over 20 years with the FARC, eventually becoming commander of the mobile column ‘Miller Perdomo’.

The reports said Yamile worked as a radio operator and nurse before transferring to Squad 55 in 2006, where she performed abortions and other surgical procedures.

Shortly after, Yamile allegedly became the personal nurse to the FARC’s military commander Mono Jojoy, real name Victor Julio Suarez Rojas, caring for him until his death in 2010.

Colombian authorities have claimed that Palacios took part in several terrorist attacks in 2008. She has been charged with the crime of rebellion.
