The 24-year-old traveled to Las Vegas after taking the Miss Colombia crown in 2011 with hopes of sealing her place as Miss Universe 2012.

Daniella has not wasted any time getting out and about in Vegas, spending a lot of time with the Miss Venezuela contestant, Irene Esser.

In her official Miss Universe profile, the beauty from Barranquilla was quoted as saying “you learn from experiences, good and bad, and these experiences mold you into who you are today.” She also expressed her dream of becoming a television anchor or an ambassador for Colombia.

Alvarez is a self-proclaimed language enthusiast and avid dancer. The former Miss Colombia claimed to have studied numerous traditional Colombian dances such as Pulla, Cumbia and Samba and volunteered with more than 65 charities.

The Miss Universe competition officially began on December 2 when all the contestants arrived in Las Vegas, but the first competition is on Thursday.
