Miss Colombia Michelle Rouillard about Miss Colombia

Michelle Rouillard is set to go to the Bahamas where she will represent
Colombia at the Miss Universe pageant. The country’s most beautiful
woman spoke to men’s magazine Cromos and did one final photo shoot.

The former Miss Cauca has paused her International Business study in Canada until at least August to prepare for the event that will hopefully bring the title of Miss Universe to Colombia this year, after former Miss Colombia, Taliana Vargas, ended second to Miss Venezuela in 2008.

The trilingual student considers her intelligence a bigger quality than her beauty and hopes to do better than her predecessor in the questions asked during the pageant. Taliana Vargas — within Colombia considered far more beautiful than the current Miss Universe — was criticized for her answers. It was for these answers, critics say, that she lost the title to Miss Venezuela.

Her beauty has always been important to Rouillard though. Ever since she was a child she played miss contests with cousins and her brother as juror. She also organized beauty pageants in high school.

As Miss Colombia, the upcoming Miss Universe competition is not the most important when taken over the year, she says. “The social part is very important in Colombia. This basically is the work of Miss Colombia, the social missions. We think of Miss Universe two months before the pageant, but the rest of the year is social work,” Rouillard told the magazine.

The actual election of Miss Universe will take place on August 23 in the Imperial Ballroom of the Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas. Tickets can be purchased here.
