Colombian authorities intercept hostage videos

Colombian authorities were able to intercept new FARC hostage videos. The videos were apparently meant
for opposition Senator Piedad Cordoba, who had announced she was
expecting thirteen proof-of-life videos.

Intelligence officials intercepted the videos a week after Cordoba received videos of nine members of the security forces held captive by the guerrillas. Defense Minister Gabriel Silva Lujan is expected to hold a press conference on the find later in the afternoon.

According to the authorities, the videos of ten members of the security forces were found. One man was arrested in the operation.

It is the second time that Colombian authorities have intercepted proof-of-life videos. Last year, videos of French-Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt were intercepted and the messengers arrested.

Cordoba criticizes the persecution of these messengers. According to her, it endangers the delivery of videos to families.
