Minister to resign but remains ‘Uribe’s Man’

Colombia’s Minister of Environment, Housing and Development Minister Juan Lozano announced his resignation Wednesday, but affirmed his continued support for President Álavaro Uribe.

Lozano will resign from the cabinet in order to pursue a career with political party Cambio Radical in the Senate. He said he had Uribe’s full support. He said that Uribe himself suggested Tuesday that he resign to ensure his eligibility for the 2010 Congressional election.

Lozano made his continued allegiance to Uribe clear, saying he wanted the Colombian people to know “I’m one of President Uribe´s men”.
