Colombia defense minister calls for ‘special emphasis’ to catch police pistol thieves

by Taran Volckhausen November 20, 2013

Colombia Defense Minister Juan Pinzon called for “special emphasis” Tuesday in investigating the apparent robbery of 100 pistols from the police Rotary Fund.

“It is not possible to have 100 pistol stolen during the night and finish without finding the guilty and putting the criminal in jail, be who they be,” said Pinzon.

The authorities reported that six civil servants of the Rotary Fund and four police were to be interrogated in connection to the case.

The investigation is also being connected to an arms trafficking operation, destined for criminal group “the Urabeños,” discovered in west Bogota.
