Santa Fé will be the happier side after Saturday’s Bogotá classic,
having held arch rivals Millonarios to a 1-1 draw at El Campín stadium.
Millonarios were the better side throughout most of the match, and got their reward on 36 minutes. A long pass from Gerardo Bedoya was collected by Luis Tejada, who chipped the ball over keeper Julio from the corner of the penalty area.
But Santa Fé got the equaliser eight minutes after the break. Julio Gutierrez found his way into the penalty area on the left side, and struck home at the near post.
It was a match of passion, with quick attacks from one side to the other but also a large amount of fouls. Omar Pérez of Santa Fé and Carlos Marinelli of Millonarios were sent off. Another nine players were booked, five of the home side and four of Santa Fé.
Santa Fé remain in third place in the Copa Mustang, while Millonarios remain stuck in 16th position and risk dropping one or even two spots on Sunday.
