Meteorologists warn for heavy rains

Colombia’s meteorological institute warns for an increase in heavy rains
across Colombia during Holy Week, a week-long national holiday.

Rains caused numerous floods and landslides all over Colombia the past week. the capital Bogotá this week was practically capitalized after extreme heavy rainfall. So far, 26 people have died in the past three weeks because of floods and landslides.

For the coming week, the IDEAM predicts “a second onslaught of winter” and urges local authorities to be on standby in case of emergencies.

The meteorologists warn that because of heavy rains in the higher parts of the countries will cause a sharp rise of the water level of the country’s largest rivers Magdalena and Cauca and may cause floods in areas next to the rivers and the coastal areas

The good news is that tourist destinations Cartagena, Santa Marta and San Andrés may look forward to a sunny Holy Week.
