Medic faked death of 3 drug lords: Colombia Police

A Colombian doctor who has been investigated for fraudulently declaring the death of a recently arrested drug lord also helped fake the death of two other narcos, police announced Tuesday.

Doctor Augusto Gallego signed the death certificate for neo-paramilitary drug lord Camilo Torres, alias “Fritanga,” who was captured at his wedding on a Caribbean island in June.

Gallego is now investigated for signing at least two other death certificates, the Colombian police’s technical investigation unit said in a press release.

“We have documents that show these certificates were issued to two drug dealers, but we believe that the individual has issued more false certifications,” General Carlos Remiro Mena said.

The two others confirmed fake death certificates were issued for the drug dealing brothers Jose Alberto and Carlos Alberto Piedrahita Zabala, both associates of “Macaco,” one of the leaders of paramilitary group AUC.
