Medellín wants to host China-LatAm business summit

by Adriaan Alsema March 27, 2009

Medellin Mayor Alonso Salazar said on Thursday that he hopes
the city host the 3rd China-Latin America Enterprise’s Summit in
November.

Salazar told Chinese news agency Xinhua that “We are expecting to host
that summit in the city. We introduced the city to Chinese organizers
and they were amazed with Medellin.”

Medellin is 200 km northwest of
Colombian capital Bogota. The country will host the 3rd China-Latin
America Enterprise’s Summit.

“If the China-Latin America
Business Summit is hosted in Medellin, it will be wonderful, and if not
anyways we are going to organize tours for Chinese delegations to
Medellin and for local businessmen to China,” Salazar added.

“We have hosted many important
events as the 60th anniversary of the Organization of American States
last year and the current annual meeting of the Inter-American
Development Bank. In 2010 we are hosting the South American and
Caribbean Games,” Salazar said.
