Medellin prepares for Sargento Garcia

Colombia news - Sargento Garcia

Unlike Bogota, Colombia’s second largest city Medellin does not enjoy the
regular arrival of big international stars to include the city in the
mountains in their tours. The last “biggie” to attend Paisaland was 50
Cents. This time, Sargento Garcia is coming.

Garcia is a Frenchman with Cuban roots and often compared to Manu Chau because of his mix of French and Spanish lyrics and his blend of salsa, cumbia, funk and hip hop.

Bruno ‘Sargento’ Garcia started making punk in the 1980’s, but switched to what the singer called salsa-muffin, an eclectic upbeat blend of tropical music with funk, hip hop and dancehall.

The sargent has his own online radiostation where he shows his latin influences.

Thursday’s concert will be held in the Medellin University Theater.
