Medellin will pay homage to farmers in each of the five townships surrounding the city with the Farmer’s Festival, which starts this weekend.

The festival will take place in Altavista on July 10, in Santa Elena on July 11, in San Antonio de Prado on July 17 and in Palmitas and San Cristobal on July 18.

The mayor’s office has sent out official invitations to 4000 farmers to come to the celebrations in honor of their contribution to rural and cultural development.

The farmers can bring their families and enjoy any of the activities organized by the villages from 10AM to 8PM. This year the program includes performances from music groups Los Carragueros and Azucar Latino, a photography exhibition on the countryside and activities for children.
